Thanks for your interest in my monthly email newsletter, Lift Every Word.
I started the newsletter to inspire people to read historical fiction and nonfiction about the Black experience in America.
Many books banned in communities around the country either feature characters of color or reference the history of Black people. In light of these challenges, I hope to encourage curious minds to seek out and read more fictional works by Black authors, as well as nonfiction accounts about the lives, contributions, challenges and triumphs of Black people throughout American history.
I believe works of fiction and nonfiction about Black people can preserve historical knowledge, build empathy and stir interest in other cultures, as well.
