Hello!

Thank you for stopping by.

I'm an aspiring author from a Southern family of avid readers – especially my father. Reading was his escape, his education, his entertainment. He and my mother made sure novels, encyclopedias, cookbooks and how-to-guides and more were readily available to me and my seven siblings. Mom kept books in every room of our cozy house – even the bathrooms! Needless to say, I was a budding bibliophile when I entered college.

In addition to training as a journalist at Florida A&M University, I studied literature as my minor and gained deeper insight into works from diverse writers across various genres. I was enthralled with the Harlem Renaissance, stories of the abolitionist and civil rights movements and tales set in the American South. I bought novels and history books with the little extra money I had.

After graduating, I spent many years as a newspaper journalist, working as both a reporter and editor. Later, I served the public as a local government communications director. As a professional storyteller with a love of literature, I suppose it was inevitable that I would one day jump into the literary life.

I'm working on two historical fiction novels. In addition to these projects, I'm pursuing additional paths to share my passion for literature and history with others. I know great storytellers come from all backgrounds. As someone who came to the literary community after a career in news media and public service, I hope my path to the writing life can inspire other aspiring authors to share their stories, too.

I was born and raised in Florida and have lived in the South my whole life. Thankfully, I fell in love with a man – also a Southerner and former journalist – who enjoys literature and history as much as I do. We've been married for more than 25 years. And, as it was when I was a child, books fill the rooms of our cozy home.
